What is the Palestine on a Plate project

Interlink Publishing, a Massachusetts-based independent publishing house, is donating 50% of the profits from the sales of Palestine on a Plate, a new cookbook by world renowned chef and cookbook author Joudie Kalla, to the Nablus-based children’s educational and cultural center Palestinian House of Friendship for the purchase of a permanent home in the city of Nablus.

The Palestinian House of Friendship—now in its 22nd year—helps over 500 Palestinian children each year

• Violence destroys childhood • Each year Israel arrests over 700 Palestinian children • 3 out of 4 Palestinian children endure physical violence following arrest • Since 2000, over 12,000 Palestinian children have been detained by Israeli authorities

  • A grassroots community organization serving children and youth who live under the stress of Israeli military occupation
  • Programs include: education, leadership development, summer camps, girl scouts, and community service
  • Year-round classes in art, traditional craft, dance, and musical expression
  • Civil society building programs and language classes to children and adults
  • Independent of any political party, PHF is dedicated to change through non-violent, democratic processes
